Islam is a religion which not only deals with the personal life of a believer, but also encompasses the rules of social behavior. It is a complete code of life. The teachings of Islam have been brought to their believers through the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The Holy Quran, Sunnah and sayings of the Prophet (pbuh) give the message of Islam to the whole of humanity. Islam teaches us that it is the final religion brought to the humanity and is the most complete religion.

Islam comprehensively covers the life of a believer. It instructs the relationship of the believer with his Creator and Sustainer. The manner in which he should carry out his life is according to the Divine instructions given to him. Furthermore, Islam goes onto to establish the social system of a Muslim society as well. It strives to create a social structure with a balanced and sustainable system in which all the aspects of human life are defined by the laws of Allah himself. Islam covers the political aspect, the social aspect and the economic aspects, critical aspects of a functioning society. The economic system covers distribution of money in the society, usury, inheritance, rights of obtaining property and dowry. For instance, Zakat, a tax on the wealth of a well to do believer, not only helps to distribute wealth in the society, but also cleanses the soul of a believer. With regards to bribery, Islam says: “And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it (in bribery) to the rulers in order that (they might aid) you (to) consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know (it is unlawful).” [Quran 2:188]
The teachings of Islam incorporate the rules of social behavior and the aspects of morality as well. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said the best of the believer is he who is the best towards his wife. The rules of behavior stretch from treatment with neighbors, respect for parents, social freedoms to law and justice too. Also described within the sphere of Islam is the political system: a system of administration which is prescribed by Islam.

The religion of Islam instructs to its believer a chaste and obedient life and promises rewards in the Hereafter to the believer. It also warns the sinful and disobedient about the Hell which is waiting for them in the Hereafter. Through this, it motivates and encourages the believer to practice his religion and creates a society in which a follower of Islam thinks about the repercussions of his actions. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said in this regard; “Actions are judged by intentions.” Islam is a religion preaching us about all the aspects of human life. It is a complete code of life.
